The nature school blossoms like spring

by Susanne Ganns

Our trip to the nature school in March 2018 was a complete success. We were pleasantly surprised at what is already being implemented at school and how much new things have gone ahead.

In cool but sunny spring weather we were greeted by the Himalaya massif in wonderful clarity and the eagles – who always appear when we come to school.

The new building is now entirely finished and the reconstruction of the old school building is completed. The children have designed wonderful classrooms with the teachers. Read more in the blog “Trees grow in the classrooms”.

The solar system is installed and put into operation and finally the rooms can be lightly tempered and there is warm water.

The school bus is fully operational and has proven its worth and our bus driver Copal is very happy to take the children to school and take them home after school.

The first gardens have already been laid out and slowly it is beginning to grow there. The trees planted by the children are thriving and some are already really big.

The quality of teaching has increased very much, the children and even the smallest ones in the kindergarten speak already a lot of English, the nature instruction is very well converted and mantras, Yoga as well as Mudras are maintained every second day after the integral teaching of SHIN. On the other days games and songs are learned before school and the winds have the greatest joy with it.

Two new dog children are now also in nature school. They are still very lively and fast on the way, if they can run freely. However, in order to protect them and so that they do not fall victim to a tiger or leopard outside the area, during our stay we have built them a small open-air enclosure.

The campaign “protective cages for the trees” has now been implemented differently and much more cost-effectively on site. Rohit also had concerns that the expensive baskets might be stolen around the school grounds. This is not very pleasing, but it is quite possible. The no longer needed iron girders of the Temple for Peace were used and stable mesh fabric was joined all around. This is easy to expand and can be easily transported by car.

Due to the many donations for the school desks in December, sufficient funds were received to order all chairs and desks for the new children from the carpenter. Many thanks to all sponsors.

On April 1, 2018 another 17 children came to school and together with the new teacher Vinod the sixth grade was opened.

In March 2018, four children had to leave school for family reasons respectively their parents migrated to cities to find work there. In autumn 2017, three children also left school for similar reasons.

Too bad, we’ll miss them.

Now the circle has grown to 65 students, 6 teachers and other helpers and we can only say it is a bright joy to see the school blossoming more and more. And what a happy life is to be found up there at 1800 meters and what a wonderful children’s laughter blows over to the Himalaya.

All this can only inspire us to start building the university as soon as possible so that the school can soon reach its full goal.

You can find more information about the university under “The school ABC” and “University”.

And anyone who would like to visit the school is of course very welcome. Just get in touch with us.
