Painting that gets to the point

by Susanne Ganns
Dot-painting is the art of painting of the Australian natives. Using simple wooden sticks and paint, the Aborigines create wonderful motifs on paper, wood or canvas. It brings life from nature to the point and has a very relaxing effect.

When I involved myself with this painting in the summer of 2017 and found it so simple and beautiful, the idea came up to bring the materials to school.
Thus we brought colours and small wooden sticks in different thicknesses to the nature school.

Hooray, the kids really enjoyed that. To experiment with colours and different wooden sticks and let your imagination run wild.

Small groups from all age classes dotted frenziedly.

Each table had a color and so the groups moved to the next table with their paintings and dot sticks.

Wonderful little paintings were created. And of course, some of the tables, hands and faces were also painted with dots.
